LA satirist and performance-pop shapeshifter Poppy keeps her momentum sharp on Empty Hands, though you won’t be the one coming out empty-handed. A complete shift following 2024’s Negative Spaces, this new set leans brutally on scream and shock elements, pairing serrated riffs with ocasional trance-like repetition, though it’s a horrifying trend toward alternative metal; an unusual and new direction for Poppy. Production comes from Jordan Fish of the Bring Me The Horizon cabinet, where a lucky 13 tracks glisten with breakneck grudge-screams and metal cesia, ‘Bruised Sky’ the most fearsome specimen.
